News on C++ Open letters
2003-09-19 04:38:41 AM
Hi. I just had a conversation with J.P. LeBlanc, the VP of our C++
products team. He gave me the latest update on what they are planning.
He is personally working on two open letters, one which he hopes to have
out in the next as soon as possible (no more than 2 weeks), and another
to follow shortly after that.
The first open letter will reveal more of Borland's plans for our
various C++ customers, and will talk about our solutions for:
C++ developers using Kylix for native Linux applications
C++ developers using C++Builder 6 for native Win32 applications
C++ developers planning to use managed C++
The second open letter will discuss:
Migration/support plans for C++ VCL developers
Migration/support plans for C++ CLX developers
IMO, the team has done an excellent job understanding the needs of our
current customers and are being very diligent about providing the least
painful paths to the future.
I ask again that you please be patient, and wait until you have a chance
to find out what Borland is *really* planning for our C++ customers. We
have given confidential briefings to a number of C++ customers with the
requirements listed above, and the response has been overwhelmingly
positive for our plans to support C++ development, wherever that
development might go.
I will announce the open letter on this newsgroup when it becomes available.
