Windows 2000 Build 1946 and Delphi CS 4.02 (BOR# 10606.1)

I am in the Technical Beta for Microsoft Windows 2000 and we are now at
Build 1946 of both the Professional and Server versions of the OS.

We also just received our new Inline CD's for Delphi Client Server (v4.02)
and we are glad to report that we are now able to get Delphi to install on
Windows 2000.

But there appears to be some minor quarks in the install and I was wondering
if someone at Inprise could give me a hand correcting this.

During the install several error dialog boxes appear.  Pressing OK on the
dialog box makes it go away and the Delphi install continues (albeit without
me being able to specify where Delphi is to be installed, what components to
install, and the licensing information).

Here are the message contained in the error dialog boxes:

Error

In function 'BOR_DLG_PSWD':
Unable to create dialog.
Make sure the _ISRES.DLL is in _SYS.CAB.

---------------

Error

In function 'sdSetupType':
Unable to create dialog.
Make sure the _ISRES.DLL is in _SYS.CAB.

---------------

Error

In function 'DLG_REMOTE.LIC':
Unable to create dialog.
Make sure the _ISRES.DLL is in _SYS.CAB.

---------------

Error

In function 'SelectComponentDir':
Unable to create dialog.
Make sure the _ISRES.DLL is in _SYS.CAB.

---------------

Error

In function 'sdStartCopy':
Unable to create dialog.
Make sure the _ISRES.DLL is in _SYS.CAB.

---------------

Again, I'm able to use Delphi 4.0 even with these installation error
messages, but I loose the functionality of being able to specify the
installation directory, license key, and the components I want to install.

I looked in the \INSTALL subdirectory on the CD and there isn't a CAB called
_SYS.CAB, but there is one called _SYS1.CAB.  So I'm wondering why the
install program is asking about the _SYS.CAB file...

Can you please have someone look into this...

If a new installation program is needed, can you please post it so it can
download.  I'll be able to create my own Delphi CD, if necessary.

Thank you,

Wendell,

I've never heard of that before.  It sounds like a Windows 2000 specific thing.
I'll keep an eye out for any solutions that come around.

Richard,

Thanks.  Do your developers have Build 1946, yet?  If not send me a private
e-mail and I'll see if the Microsoft guys will allow me to ship you a
copy...
