Trouble installing BC++ 4.5 - please help

Hallo

Can anybody help me.  It's really embarrassing because I normally manage to install
things without too much problem.  This time I try to install Borland C++ 4.5 from
CD ROM and everything copied over just fine,  I had enough disk space and so on.
THen I try to start the workshop and it tells me "Need BWcc.dll version 2.0 or higher"
I look at the version info in my BC45/include/bwcc.h and it's 2.0,  compare the
bwcc.dll in my windows/system directory and it's the same as that on the CDROM.
OK m,aybe an old dll is lurking somewhere but where else could it be?
The main problem is then when I open the bcw.exe program and load an example project,
compile,  and run.  Then I get the ingratiating message "Error in Kernel (mem location) bcw will shut down...etc".  ANy clues?
I did a scandisk,  defrag before,  and booted "clean" as borland suggested.  Still
no luck.  This borland stuff is not something you want to install more than 3 times I think/....

thanks

Have you installed BC++4.5 onto this computer before?
I get the impression that, when you first install it, it stores in some
terribly obscure place the initial location you chose for LOADBWCC.DLL,
BWCC.DLL and the other files.

I had installed it, removed it, and tried to install it again to a
different location. No luck. I tried
  grep -d "borland" *.*
(borland being the name of the directory I initially chose for
installation); no matches came up.
Then I copied all the relevant BWCC stuff from the new location into the
original installation location, and everything worked perfectly. So, if
you're at a loss and don't mind wasting a couple of megs, try this.

I also had the problem that, whenever I did an installation, it seemed to
arbitrarily skip a few random files that I had to copy from the CD
manually. This effect might be something to do with installing from a
network CD-ROM on a machine running NT next door. I don't know.
