Upgrading from BDE 4.51 to 5.01 with Installshield

Upgrading from BDE 4.51 to 5.01 with Installshield

Hello:

I upgrade to 5.01 with the upgrade program from Inprise.
Then with my InstallShield Express I rebuild the installation.
I have a customer using Full BDE Install 4.51 with Windows 98.
I uninstall all from this customer and install the new application using
BDE 5.01. The I see a error, I dont remeber something about the
IDAPI32.CNF? error 3?

I think something stills in the systems and dont let me install 5.01, I
reinstall the BDE 4.51 again and all was ok.

How I can upgrade the BDE?

There is a way to obtain a full-guaranted-uninstall of BDE from the
Windows?

If you are talking about the BDE upgrade from the Web, do not uninstall
the previous BDE. That is truely an upgrade and will only update those
peices of hte BDE that are already on the machine (ie if no SQL Links
are there the new SQL Links won't be copied onto the machine).

Hello,

I had a similar problem:

When deploying my BDE application the install program was generating
the error
"Merging the configuration file has failed". (which is the
file you mentioned, by the way...IDAPI32.CNF)

Then I found an answer (that solved my problem) on the Borland's BDE
FAQ at the following address:
