Appending records to .DB and .DBF tables

Can anyone suggest a way of appending records in code to both .dbf and
Paradox 5/7 format .db tables without using the BDE?

You could allways learn their file formats and do it low-level...
the formats can be found at http://www.wotsit.org

There is a .dbf driver supporting TDataSet in the Free Pascal FCL (check the
development version, NOT the release).

It might be adaptable to Delphi too.
