Delphi 1.0 and Windows 95

I have a rather curious error every now and then, using the
combination of Windows 95 and Delphi 1.0...

When I'm running a Delphi app from the Delphi environment (for
debugging for example, quite convenient) I get a REAL FATAL error from
Windows 95 : Exception 0E on (address)... Well, I get the exception in
dutch, but it should sound like that... The screen is blue in
char-mode... so far for the graphic environment...
And after this error Windows dies...

I do NOT get this Error when I run a app writen in Delphi and I also
do not get it when no app is running from Delphi... so it has to be
the combination...

I already called the Borland Helpdesk, who blamed Windows 95 (and it
is true, I did not have this error in Windows 3.11), I called the
Microsoft Helpdesk (guess who they blamed ??), and it is also true
other applications are not causing this error...

The specialist have no answers... who has ?

Ok, let's pull ourselves together here...: You have Win95 and you want
to run Delphi. Many people in this group (including me) have done this.
The only variable here is the hardware in question and the employed
drivers... So run Delphi on another computer? Perhaps this would be
a good time to try Windows NT? <G>

Well... as for the hardware : on 2 different computers (a desktop and
a notebook) the same error is occuring... well, they both used the
same drives for the backup program, so I deinstalled them... (how nice
is Windows 95 ;-))... Still the same error on the desktop, on the
notebook it did not occur (yet)...
(but normally I do not work on the notebook)...

Hmmm..... I've read some problems of people using Delphi 1.0 on NT...
I guess I wait with it....

Are you running Delphi 1.0, 1.01, or 1.02?  If you do not have 1.02,
then you need to upgrade.  Its not guranteed to fix the problem that
you are having, but it might.  The other thing to try, is to boot in
"Safe Mode" which only loads the minimum number of drivers necessary
to run 95.  Check to see if it runs in Safe Mode, if not, then I have
no idea,  If it does run in Safe Mode, then its a conflict with a
driver and Delphi.

Good suggestion. Even though the problem is that win95 is not as compatible
with 3.11 as it claims to be, I think you pointed to a good 'band-aid' for the
problem.
