Create & Read E-mails + attachments in D2

I've been asked to find out what's involved in sending an email (plus
attached file) from within Delphi 2.0 C/S
And, also, we'd like to 'automatically' read incoming e-mails and detach
any attached file for processing in D2.
I'd welcome any suggestions on where to start with this - eg components,
books, experiences, etc

I just read a few other messages about this in another newsgroup.  There
were replies pointing to this site. Upon visiting it, I found several
freeware internet components, including some that will do what you are
asking.
