Difference between delphi 4 Std and Delphi 5 std

Hi all

Can anyone tell what the major improvements and changes are from version 4.0
standard and version 5 standard. I am contemplating an upgrade from my free
copy of version 4.0 standard, and was wondering if it was worth it.

Thanks for your help

I wouldn't call that an "upgrade". Database components are missing in D5
std., for one. Go for the Professional version, it's value for money. If you
do not intend to pay that much, get a (legal) copy of D4 std.

My copy of D4 std is legal, I got it as part of a promotion with a CD on a
magazine. Not having access to the database components would be a problem
though, thanks for the info.

The "free" copies of Delphi that I have seen on magazines are indeed
free, but they do say you are not allowed to sell any programs written
with it.

Dodgy.

Fortunately  I have no plans or desire to sell anything that I write. Most
of what I doo is small programs that perform a useful task for me and the
people I know.
