How to install new version of BDE without loosing old BDE aliases and not to affect applications that use previous version of BDE?

I need to install BDE in order my program to work
The computer have already installed previous version of BDE.
Are there any problem to uninstall previous version of BDE and install new
one?
If programs that use it will continue work?
In other hand: if deinstallation will remove aliases? And if "no", will they
work with new version of BDE? If "yes" how to save old aliases and recreate
them after installing new version.
Thanx in advance, Marin

Do _not_ uninstall the previous version. Just install the new version using
a Borland certified installer and it will update the necessary files while
preserving all of your BDE settings including aliases.

Just to be on the safe side, backup the .cfg (configuration files) in
the BDE directory (idapi.cfg/idapi31.cfg). The .cfg file(s) contains
the aliases.
