I need a routine to read a double value written in Pascal to a binary file.

If it was written out by Turbo Pascal as a double then just read it the same
way as if were written to the file by a C program.  The format is the same
as used for a double by Borland C++.

If it is a 6-byte Turbo Pascal real type then look at this page for example
code that converts the number format.
