We wrote a program to install one of our software packages.  We've
tested it in-house on Windows 95, 98, and NT and haven't run into this
problem, but when one of our customers installed it, his computer
completely crashed, so bad that they're having to reinstall Windows 95
on his machine.  He chose the 'Run from CD-ROM' option when this
happened, so the only things our installation program did were to
install the in-house font we use and to create the program group and
icon for the program.  His computer actually crashed during the
installation process.

Has anyone else run into this?  Anyone have any ideas what could have
gone wrong?  We tried to re-create his problem by taking a CD we had
burned right after burning the one sent to him (with the same files)
and installing it with the 'Run from CD-ROM' option on a Windows 95
machine here, but it worked fine for us.  So we're not sure if the
problem is with our software or his computer right now, but we're
trying to figure out, if it is our software, what could cause that to
happen.  (We've asked him to send the CD back to us so we can test it
here.)

Don't know if this applies, but one of my employees copied a font from
another machine into his win98 system and all kinds of problems occurred
(he's not in right now, so I can't get the details).  It ended up in a win98
reinstall!!

We think now that the laptop he tried to install it on had so little hard disk
space left that if he had tried to install anything, it would have crashed.  So
we're going to try to duplicate the situation on one of our laptops here.  If
it still crashes with plenty of disk space, then we'll know it was definitely
our program.  If that's the case, I'll e-mail you again and ask for the
details.
