I had this problem until I extensively tweaked the colors and removed
the background color. But the rect is still annoying.

So it is not the feature that you despise, you despise the way it is
implemented.
Have you log it in QC? If you haven't then vote for QC #11043.

True but I gather the diff engine was reused from the TeamSource code
base which couldn't reconcile either.
I am hoping a future history view will respect the "File" settings tab
for StarTeam "external applications" in the future. And that the
deployment manager will have a differencing view, too ...

Thanks. Interesting that it is opened w/o steps to reproduce. Hopefully
the description is enough to go on.

{} = Braces. (dictionary.reference.com/search
Not "curly braces". Braces is enough. It needs no adjective if you *know* the correct definition. The "curly" comes from "curly bracket", see below.
Also :
() = Parenthesis (dictionary.reference.com/search
Less well defined:
[] = Brackets (cmusun29.unige.ch/udrem/atelier_web/tutorial/glossary.html)

See, there's my problem right there :-)
Now that you've educated me on the matter, I can from this moment
forward call them braces. However, whether I do or not is totally up to
my discretion. <g>

A few years back, I used to do a lot of C++ for a large multinational
company. There, the "braces" were universally called "curlies". A couple of
folks also called them "squigglies".

That's all right David.
According to the
(cmusun29.unige.ch/udrem/atelier_web/tutorial/glossary.html)
link you can call braces, Curly brackets if you so desire.

It would seem under these circumstances that the "steps to reproduce" is
very simple. So, yeah, it is odd that the person didn't put that in.
However, I really hope that Borland doesn't ignore a QC entry simply
because "steps to reproduce" is empty. This is one of those CRs that
appears to be a no-brainer to look into and fix (although I know
personally about these simple-on-the-surface issues that are "5 minute"
jobs and turn out to be hours of work!)
Cheers,
Kevin.
