It is nice to know that a Delphi product company is being bought for an
hefty sum
This is good for Delphi growth

For less than 10% of that amount they could buy Borland and provide
Danny Thorpe with the resources to create a new native VCL that
supports Unicode on win32 & 64 ;)

LOL! that is so true :) But I guess that Microsoft wouldn't let that
happen.

/Jislaik/ ... how about that! $4.1 bln ... :)
(Someone's got a thread running here about famous Delphi people ...
The Skype guys ought to be there first, no?)

Re:eBay to buy Skype in deal worth $4.1 bn

Just watched BBC Business, the amount is more like $1.4 bln,
not 4.1 ... :) ... ah well ...
"What can you do with $4.1 bln that you can not do with $1.4 bln?",
to paraphrase Sean Connery in /Entrapment/.

Thanks, I just read the same report. I think the BBC misreported - or
perhaps they mentioned a "part" of the total deal.

I believe ColdFusion was orginally written in Delphi.

HomeSite was/is. I don't think ColdFusion was.

AFAIK, Cold Fusion Studio (the IDE) was/is written in Delphi because it
was based on Homesite.

Kevin.

Cold Fusion was out well before Macromedia purchased Homesite.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that a later version of the IDE wasn't based
on Homesite. I am not sure whether the prior versions of CF even had an
IDE- it may simply have been notepad... don't know, never used it!
Here's one reference but I am sure there are other better ones that refer
to CFS being based on Homesite. AFAICR, Nick Bradbury even confirmed
that Macromedia was still using the Homesite code-base for their CFS
product.

Yes, Cold Fusion and Cold Fusion Studio are two different products.
Cold Fusion Studio and Homesite are closely related.
