(16Bit) BDE and Oracle SQL*Net

In a message from ORACLE I read "If your third party 16 bit
application (in this case BDE 2.52) requires RSF 7.0 then they are not
compatible with SQL*Net 2.3. Does anyone know if the 16Bit Version of
the BDE requires RSF 7.0 to run. I guess a better question would be
does anyone know if the 16-bit Version of the SQL-Links require the
RSF 7.0 to run properly?
