Delphi 5 / ADO / ACCESS 2000 / Installation

Hi,

can anybody tell my what i need to distribute a Delphi 5 application with
ADO access to ACCESS 2000 Databases?
Licence ?

MDAC has to be installed to work with ADO (download and install mdac_typ.exe
from www.microsoft.com/data).

Licencing is a gray area. You are allowed to distribute MDAC with any
product made with a Microsoft program, but not with a (non-Microsoft) Delphi
program. However, MDAC is already part of Windows 2000 and Windows 98 SE and
AFAIK as an owner of Windows you are allowed to install MDAC on your system.
So, your Delphi program would be using existing software on the PC, which
should be legal...

Well, you could always write your 'About' dialog in VB.. :)

Seriously, I've heard of people doing that.

I know, but recently Microsoft claimed that a SIGNIFICANT part of the
application had to be written with a Microsoft product. You can't really
call an about-box (actually it was the splash screen) a significant part of
an application...
