The application are developed with Delphi 4 and I also installed the
latest patches (sp3 for delphi and the update for installshield from the
borland page)
The applications are connecting  to a Sybase SQL Server 11.9.2 and must
handle special german characters( like ?,?,,and ?).
This is no problem if I do that on my development machine, but if I
create a installshield setup and install the BDE (using the
5.01version)  all special charcters are corrupted and inserts to the
database couln't be done since the server respond with:Some client
characters could not be converted to the servers charset...., which
seems to be a problem with the client charakter or language settings....

I installed the BDE again from the Delphi CD on the client machine and
with that it works quite well, now problem with characters...there must
be a problem with the installshield settings...

Does anyone know about this problem?
Is it a missing or wrong DLL or a registry setting that I don't
know.....

Any help welcome.....

Hi Benedikt,

Version 5.10 of the BDE is now available.  Try deploying that with your
application and see if that fixes your problem.

In the future, please post messages of this topic in the
delphi.database.desktop discussion group.
