Version Control 1.0 vs 2.0

Version Control 1.0 vs 2.0

I can't find version control anywhere on my Delphi CDs!? I think they just give
you the interface again (I got Developer, I believe that C/S comes with it
though...).

I beg to differ with Reinoud.
Delphi 2.0 personal aswel as Developper will not be shipped with a
version control system.
There is however a link to VCS built in (Dev. version).
I have found a component what will give you access to the interface of
the vcs.
I have includded the readme file that was shipped with this freeware.
As you will read you can expand the functionality of the software to
build your own version control system. I have!

I think Reinoud was wrong with answer to you that vcs was build in
2.0. With the personal aswel as the developper version there will be
no VCS shipped. The C/S version will.
There is however still the link to an external VC system.

I have found freeware software that will allow you to interface with
Borlands VCS API so you can build your own VCS.
I have atteced the original readme file with this message.

Oh, yuck! Is that thing still around!?! Someone else came up with a
much better example than mine. I wish I still knew who it was and
where it could be found. That MyVCS project has almost no error
checking in it, and really should disappear from the face of the
earth. :-)

BTW: I wrote that for 1.0... I haven't looked at the 2.0 interface
stuff (and probably won't) so I don't know if it'll work or not. Good
luck to anyone who plays with it.

I attended a Demo on Delphi 2.0 a few days ago and if I remember
correctly (and I'm 99% sure I am) Delphi 2 Developer is shipped with
version control. I remember this since I asked a question to which one
of the possible solutions was to make use of the version control.

No.. Delphi C/S 2.0 suite is the only product that are shipped with
version control.
Delphi Developer has the INTERFACE enabled for the version control,
not the actual version control.
And Delphi Personal doesn't have the interface enabled.

If I reemeber correctly from the demo (maybe even the same demo at
Gallagher Estate?) then Developer comes with the Open API which enables
PVCS to link into Delphi, and Delphi Client/Server comes with PVCS
included.

BTW great to see a ONline WElcome user in the Delphi group, I was at ONWE
myself a bit back.
