Source forge, or not?2006-06-10 02:47:03 AM delphi16 I'm wondering if I should put my open source Delphi libraries on source forge or not? The downside that I see is not having full control over what gets added or changed (but that is probably an incorrect assumption), but what are the benefits? -- Pete ==== Audio compression components, DIB graphics controls, ECO extensions, FastStrings www.droopyeyes.com My blog blogs.slcdug.org/petermorris/ |

Re:Source forge, or not?
AFAIK, you do control a project you put there. OTOH, people can fork and
create another project, totally based on your work, as far as they comply with the license you choose (GPL, Mozilla, BSD, etc.). I think a benefit could be that in sf it maybe would be easier for interested people to help you. Re:Source forge, or not?
Wrong. You decide who can download it, who can check things in, who can
post new downloads. The benefit is that if you have 2 or 3 other people that want to help, you make it really easy by giving them posting rights to the CVS. Re:Source forge, or not?
I am interested to know if you can you upload an existing SVN repository to
SF when moving a project there? Or download the repository if you decide you no longer want to maintain it on SF? "OBones" <XXXX@XXXXX.COM>writes QuotePeter Morris [Droopy eyes software] writes: |

Hi,

The idea is to prevent Open Source projects from vanishing off the face of the earth if the maintainer loses interest. MfG twm |
