I might end up having to add RSS/Atom feed reading to my newsreader if
enough people come to expect it from newsreaders, so I am curious as to how
these "search channels" work.
Download FeedDemon and take a look:
www.feeddemon.com/
Essentially they return search engine results from news feeds in your
RSS reader. So if you're interested in newsreaders you'd add a search
channel for "newsreader".
FeedDemon also has watches that watch all of your feeds that you're
currently subscribed to and filters just the ones that match specific
keywords.
Cheers,
Kevin.

I think you may want to add it now before people come to expect it from
newsreaders.

By the time JSN is actually released I suspect most newsreaders will have
RSS aggregators built in.

By the time JSN is actually released I suspect...
titanium portable porcine fecal deviators will be standard (a.k.a.
reinforced umbrellas to keep the flying pig stuff off you).
Or the sun will have supernova'd and the ancestral home of humans,
Earth, will be effectively gone. But that is OK, because the
talking computers in the spaceships will be "one more release" away
from having good text-to-speech interfaces, and will be almost able
to read your newsgroups to you!
