What was your own best Delphi innovation?2008-01-04 10:54:42 AM delphi122 I've created a few things in the past of which I am quite proud but have never made it into the wider world of Delphi code. I developed a module loading system which could be thought of as a plug- in framework but used nothing more than RTTI to get its work done. |

Re:What was your own best Delphi innovation?
Not truly an innovation, but a funny trick was to make
1-line-of-code-and-1-component 100% native self-contained webservers with TServerSocket. Still a guaranteed jaw-dropper for all the IT people that don't understand what HTTP fundamentally is... Great for in-process diagnostics, specialty webservices and other deploy-anywhere-with-xcopy situations. Plus a few years back it did scale decently enough compared to IIS & ISAPI, without the admin and vulnerability issues ;) (ok, the current days version of it here is a 2k lines dedicated component, but it is a bit more comfortable to use, and it beats IIS if you need the throughput or deployment flexibility) Eric |

They have saved me (and our team) an untold amount of time. Creating frames with the most common types of lookups (date ranges, look up codes, etc) provides a very consistent UI and behavior (our users tend to like that :) krf |

Hi,
How about [[ Nested pair-keywords Syntax ]] and [[ Nested grouped-keywords Syntax ]] for Delphi/Pascal !? (Seem nice for Ruby/Html ,too) www.actionxp.com/editor/help/screenshots.htm I had this ideal form a feature of Text Editor that support: auto high light the current pair of "[ vs ]", or "( vs )" when cursor stopped in their block. Its very useful when there are more 10 nested levels of "Begin/End" , "Case/End" in a procedure/function, If you delete a "end" in accident, and you want to find out. Or ,You want to print the code to read. Andrew |
