Delphi 6 (all updates)
dbExpress (all updates)
3 tier client server app using
TSockeConnection / TRemoteDataModule
Protocol: TCP/IP, 'local host'
All 3 tiers are loaded onto one PC
In the client's TClientDataSet I construct a simple SQL statement
calling back records from a single table, then Execute it. The
execute always succeeds if there is no 'WHERE' clause (pulls back all
records in the table). I can repeatedly close and re-execute without
a problem if there is no where clause.
If there *is* a 'WHERE' clause, the execute can be closed and repeated
only about 2 or 3 times, then the whole application locks up,
requireing me to click the 'pause' in Delphi, then a reset (F2) to get
This problem only occurs if all 3 tiers are loaded and operated on one
Laptop or PC. If I am in a network situation and run the app server
and client on one PC and run IB on another PC the problem never
occurs. I must always separate IB from the app server to make it
work. This problem occurs whether I am using dbExpress components or
*important* This problem never occurs on WinNT, only on XP and Win2K
I can load all exact same three tiers onto a WinNT machine and it will
I need to get this problem solved so I can demo product to customers.
They will not be impressed if the app locks up during a demo.
Thanks for all advice. :-)
