Turbo Interbase ?

Hi,
Will there be a Turbo version of Interbase ?
The version that ships with Delphi 2006 is nice,
but it is "crippleware" in the sense that it is designed
to stop working after a day or two.
It would be great if there was a free version of
Interbase that was limited in a more "friendly"
way .. maybe limited to using 1 GB of ram and
one processor core ? Possible also limited to
non-commercial use ?
IIRC Microsofts SQL server and Oracle is
available for free but with limits as above.

Not announced at this point, but you might ask during one of the
"Delphi hour" radio shows.

Borland newsgroup denizen Sergio González has a new CD of
Irish music out, and it is good: tinyurl.com/7hgfr

Great idea. Thanks !

Or file some entry for that feature request in QC so that others can
rate and vote it.

Re:Turbo Interbase ?

Hi Dag,
I asked the same question 'turbo interbase?' on TDH #5
blogs.borland.com/nickhodges/archive/2006/08/08/26538.aspx
The answered it somewhere in the last 10 minutes... altough the entire hour was very interesting.

Re:Turbo Interbase ?

We currently have no plans for a turbo version of InterBase. The turbo
products are not free, so if we made a new free version as you have
suggested, turbo wouldn't seem to be an appropriate name for it to me.

Hi Quinn,
It could be free if launched in the Explorer line of Turbo Editions
At least you will be able to fight back the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition

Re:Turbo Interbase ?

Oh, I forgot about Explorer being included with Developer Edition. We
will now have a way for people to do development for free! In theory,
you could download a turbo explorer, then use the Developer Edition
included with another development tool.

Where can we get the Turbo products?
Paul...

XP Pro, SP 2,
Oracle, 9.2.0.1.0 (Enterprise Ed.)
Interbase 6.0.1.0;
When asking database related questions, please give other posters
some clues, like operating system, version of db being used and DDL.
The exact text and/or number of error messages is useful (!= "it didn't work!").
Thanks.
Furthermore, as a courtesy to those who spend
time analysing and attempting to help, please
do not top post.
