How do I fix the following problem that occurs since upgrading from BDS2006
to BDS2007?
I have a TQuery on a Datamodule.
I get the following message dialog when I try to change the DatabaseName
property.
"An error occured while attempting to initialize the Borland Database Engine
( error $2A06 )"
The details button on the dialog gives me this:

Re:Re: BDS2007, An error occured while attempting to initialize the BDE ( error $2A06 )

What should the BDE path be when BDS2007 is installed?
I show a BDE directory of "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE"
but Data, Database Desktop, Images, RAD Studio and SampleDictionary
were installed in the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\CodeGear Shared"
directory.

Re:Re: BDS2007, An error occured while attempting to initialize the BDE ( error $2A06 )

Bill,
I planned on re-installing BDS2007 after I got back from lunch.
I logged off my Windows XP system and went to lunch.
I was going to show the error to a team member after I got back from lunch
and
it is working just fine now.
I am clueless as to why it is working now.
Larry.

$2A06 is "Engine not initialized". That usually means that the BDE is
not properly installed.

Re:Re: BDS2007, An error occured while attempting to initialize the BDE ( error $2A06 )

It does not matter where the BDE is as long as the registry key points
to the directory where it is located. Since it is now working the
registry is correct.

By the way, Bill.
I read your "White paper" on Migrating Borland Database Engine Applications
to dbExpress.
I loved it and found it very helpful.
Thanks for all the hard work. :)
