Oracle NLS_SORT parameter and BDE

Hi all,
I noticed that somehow BDE is able to bypass the Oracle NLS_SORT settings
defined at Oracle client level.
Since I cannot find this parameter in BDE settings, maybe someone knows how
to avoid this problem?
I need to use NLS_SORT=BYNARY (as defined at Oracle client level), and not
the NLS_SORT=WEST_EUROPEAN (the one forced by BDE).
The problem is that the same query run through BDE and using Oracle SQLPlus
gives different results.
